We offer the Food Detective intolerance test developed by Cambridge Nutritional Sciences. This test involves a skin prick blood test which tests for a reaction against 59 of the most common food intolerances. Our food intolerance test is carried out by a Registered Nutritional Therapist and includes a full Nutrition Consultation.
During a consultation, your Nutritional Therapist will discuss any health issues that you would like to improve and explore how foods and nutrients may be contributing to the symptoms you are experiencing. Working with a Nutritional Therapist will help you to understand why your body is reacting to certain foods and will allow a complete programme including dietary advice of how to avoid the foods to which you are showing a reaction whilst still maintaining a healthy nutrient-rich diet.
What Happens During a Food Intolerance Test?
At the start of your appointment, your Nutritional Therapist will take a blood sample using a finger prick. They will then process the test. It takes around 50 minutes for the test results to develop, you will receive the results during the consultation. Your Nutritional Therapist will discuss the results with you and provide a plan of foods to exclude with alternatives. Supplements may be recommended to support health or correct nutrient deficiencies.
What do I need to know before taking the test?
We recommend that you eat a normal diet with as much variety as possible. If you currently avoid certain foods such as diary, wheat or gluten, ideally these should be re-introduced for the two weeks prior to testing. On the day of the test, please drink at least 250ml of water within one hour of the test. Being hydrated will improve your blood flow
