Folic Acid

Balanced Folic Acid is formulated using L-5-methyltetrahydrofolate (5-MTHF), the metabolically active form of folic acid found in nature. Supplemental folic acid intake increases maternal folate status. Low maternal folate status is a risk factor in the development of neural tube defects in the developing foetus. The Department of Health advise that all women planning a pregnancy should take a supplement of 400ug daily. Folate also contributes to the normal function of the immune system, normal homocysteine metabolism, the reduction of tiredness and fatigue and supports cell division.
