The Best Natural Deodorant

The Best Natural Deodorant

Most of use deodorants everyday and when it comes to beauty and personal care products, this is the one product that I passionately believe should be natural. Here’s why :

Concerns over harmful ingredients. Deodorants are used very close to the lymph system. Parabens and aluminium are the main ingredients of concern. Aluminium blocks sweat production, and some studies suggest that it could be absorbed by the skin and therefore linked to serious health conditions. Parabens mimic oestrogen, leading to concerns about breast cancer and other hormone related conditions. Regulatory bodies like the FDA and Cancer Research UK state that aluminium and paraben based deodorants are safe but as there are so many great natural alternatives out there I choose not to expose myself to these ingredients.

Gentle on Your Skin: synthetic fragrances can cause irritation in such a sensitive areas Natural deodorants are kinder to sensitive skin.

Sweat Naturally, Stay Fresh: Unlike antiperspirants, natural deodorants don’t block your sweat glands. Sweating is your body’s natural way of detoxing, and natural formulas keep you odor-free without disrupting that process.

Better for the Planet: our natural deodorant brands prioritise eco-friendly packaging and sustainable ingredients. We love the cardboard tube and refillable options.

Switching to a natural deodorant might take your body a couple of weeks to adjust but innovation has come a long way in the last few years and there are some great products available that perform just as well as synthetic, chemical based ones.

Here are my Top 3:

1. Ben and Anna :
These deodorants get my vote for performance and sustainability. They come in a cardboard tube and are 100% plastic free. I use these for the gym and work and they don’t let me down. The only negative is that the cardboard can get a soggy and after a while it can be hard to push the stick up. More recently a rub on cream version has been added to the range which gets round this if you are happy to apply the product with your hands.

2. Wild refillable :
This is the product I am using now. In terms of performance, I find Wild to be almost as good as Ben & Anna but not quite, it still passed my gym test though. Wild is definitely a more convenient choice. It is in a metal case which comes with one refill. Refils are easy to insert and good value. The casing will last a lifetime so it’s certainly an environmentally friendly choice.

This deodorant is a traditional roll on. It’s not an antiperspirant, so I do feel a bit damp with it and the performance for me is not as good as Wild or Ben and Anna, I have however found it to be the best choice for a natural alternative to a chemical roll on.
These are the deodorants that I believe to be the best available in the UK. Have you tried them?  What do you think?  As always please share recommendations and let me know any others you think we should be reviewing.  Comments or thoughts please get in touch joanne@amaranth-wellbeing.com or call 0161 439 9856.
